Name: Ayato Naoi
Show: Angel Beats!
Story: Student body vice president in the afterlife high school. In life, his twin brother, Hayato, excelled in pottery. Ayato's parents never seemed to expect anything to become of him, so their attention was on his more skillful twin. After an accident that killed Hayato and hospitalized Ayato, his parents' attention moved to him. He began to train in pottery with his father, craving his acceptance. However, his father became bedridden, and his dream of becoming the greatest potter in all of Japan vanished. How Ayato Naoi died is unexplained, but he acted as an angry, power-driven student in the afterlife high school. His drive was the phrase "You're the one who died," which refers to the death of his brother, when he was finally given attention. He was sure that his parents only acknowledged Hayato's work, even after his death. Ayato was just continuing Hayato's work in the eyes of Mr. and Mrs. Naoi. This caused all of Ayato Naoi's built up anger. Yuzuru Otonashi helps Naoi to overcome this agonizing pain, and to realize that his hard work meant something; that his life mattered. This creates a great sense of admiration for Otonashi in Naoi.
